Jason Mitchell Joins Kathryn Bigelow’s Untitled Detroit Riots Film

*“Straight Outta Compton” star Jason Mitchell has been cast in director Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled film set around the 1967 Detroit Riots, reports Variety.

John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Will Poulter, Ben O’Toole, and Jack Reynor co-star in the project, which has a script from Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty” scribe Mark Boal.

Character descriptions are being kept under wraps.

Mitchell was most recently seen in the New Line comedy “Keanu” after breaking out as Eazy-E in “Straight Outta Compton.” He just wrapped production on Dee Rees’ “Mudbound,” which also stars Carey Mulligan and Jason Clarke.

He also finished shooting Legendary’s big-budget monster movie, “Kong: Skull Island,” which is set to bow in March 10, 2017, and also stars Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson.
