*Zendaya says she believe her race came into play during a recent trip to the grocery store.
The actress, who shared her story on Snapchat, said it all went down Tuesday at a Vons supermarket, where she attempted to purchase $400 worth of gift cards, only to be turned down by the woman at the register.
Zendaya, 20, says the woman “tossed” her wallet back at her with the comment, “You can’t afford this.”
She’s says a manager eventually stepped in and processed the purchase, but the original cashier’s actions left a bad taste.
“The lady who was helping us, I don’t think she was a huge fan of our skin tone,” Zendaya says in the video.
“Long story short, there’s so much progress to be done in our world.”
