*He didn’t exactly go from worst to first, but San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick does have the number one selling jersey after climbing to that spot from number 20.
This in spite of … or maybe it’s because of the controversy he’s been engulfed in following his decision to not stand for the National Anthem.
Think about it. He’s ahead of the likes of Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, NaVorro Bowman, and the customizable jerseys.
Like SB Nation‘s David Fucillo points out, now that he made the 53-man roster for the time being (after prognosticators said he would be cut because of his protest), it will be interesting to see how Kaepernick merchandise does on a national level. It’ll be a while before the NFLPA has new sales numbers later this fall. Then we’ll know.
