*Fox continues to roll out new video teasing the Sept. 21 premiere of its third season.
The latest features a first look at Mariah Carey in her guest role as Kitty, a huge singing sensation who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) on a new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough.
“You always got a trick up your sleeve,” says Kitty in the split-second shot.
Carey’s appearance on “Empire” marks her third with show co-creator Lee Daniels following “The Butler” and “Precious.”

Carey’s episode will air Wednesday, Oct. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Additional guest stars this season include Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, rapper French Montana and music mogul Birdman, who plays himself.
