Russell Simmons: ‘Major Deal’ Highlights Importance of Viral Success [Watch]

*Internet star King Keraun is helping Russell Simmons and his All Def Digital expand its catalogue with the new comedy “Major Deal,” which follows a struggling rapper hoping to catch a break. The film co-stars Juhahn Jones, Simone Shepherd, GG Townson, Kiya Roberts, and Jaidyn Triplett.

EUR/Electronic Urban Report caught up with the cast and they explained how going viral is crucial to the success of today’s aspiring superstars.

Five-time felon King Keraun (born Keraun Harris) became Internet famous after he served two years in a federal lockup in 2009 for robbery and credit card scams. Upon his release, he took to social media to showcase his witticisms through vines, memes and videos — which have garnered more than one million followers on Instagram.

The “Major Deal” filmmakers also offered advice to black content creators on how they can stay ahead of the game.

Check out the Q&A via the clip above.

“Major Deal” will begin streaming worldwide August 26th at the official movie website here.

All Def Digital is an urban music and comedy media company founded by Russell Simmons, and back in June, Variety reported that ADD “closed $10 million in Series B financing led by Allen DeBevoise’s Third Wave Digital Partners.”
