*Baylor wide receiver Ishmael Zamora will face disciplinary action after a video surfaced of him whipping and kicking his dog.

The video, obtained by KXXV News Channel 25 in Waco, Texas, shows Zamora hitting a dog eight times with a belt and kicking it while yelling. “I lost my temper trying to discipline him,” he told KXXV in a statement. “I’ve been through training with a dog trainer to help me learn new potty training tips.”

A teammate recorded the beating and posted it to Snapchat in late June, according to KXXV. A former Baylor student saw the footage and reported it to authorities. Zamora was charged with a Class C misdemeanor and received a citation for up to $500.

Baylor interim coach Jim Grobe told reporters Zamora will be disciplined and that his playing status will “probably” be affected.

“I think he’s going to be disciplined by a bunch of people — the city is gonna get a piece of him, and our university doesn’t take it lightly,” Grobe said. “There will be some sanctions from the university and, from an athletic department standpoint, we’ll do some things. But hopefully it’s a teaching moment and a learning experience for him.”

Zamora, a sophomore, caught nine passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns last year and is projected to be a starter for the Bears this season.

Baylor football has enough problems already. In the wake of its ongoing sexual assault scandal, the school’s former president Ken Starr resigned his post as a law school professor earlier today, severing his last tie with the faith-based campus.

The ex-prosecutor best known for zealously pursuing charges against President Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, had in more recent years been a high-profile face of Baylor. But he lost his job as president in May and later stepped down as chancellor amid allegations the school mishandled several cases in which football players were accused of sexually assaulting women.

Meanwhile, Baylor alum Robert Griffin III also sparked negative headlines this week when PDA photos of him with his new girlfriend surfaced within hours of news that he and his wife were separated and about to file for divorce.
