*A trailer for the upcoming film “Moonlight” has surfaced featuring Naomie Harris, Andre Holland, Mahershala Ali and singer Janelle Monae in her big-screen debut.

Based on the Tarell McCraney play “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue,” the drama follows a young boy named Chiron, who is coming of age in War on Drugs-era Miami. The story is told across three defining chapters in his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain and beauty of falling in love, while grappling with his own sexuality.

“At some point, you gotta decide for yourself who you gonna be,” says Ali in the trailer. “Can’t let nobody make that decision for you.”

Written and directed by Barry Jenkins, the drama hails from A24 and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.

Trevante Rhodes, Alex R. Hibbert, Jaden Piner, Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome round out the cast.

“Moonlight” opens in select New York and Los Angeles theaters on Oct. 21, following its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
