Antoine Fuqua in Talks to Direct Universal’s Reimagining of ‘Scarface’

*Antoine Fuqua is considering Universal Pictures’ remake of “Scarface” as his next project, reports Deadline.com.

The film is being described as a “reimagining” of the core immigrant story told in both the 1932 and 1983 films. The new movie will be set in Los Angeles.

Jonathan Herman wrote the most recent draft, with earlier drafts written by Paul Attanasio and David Ayer.

Marty Bregman, producer of the 1983 “Scarface,” will also produce.

Fuqua (“Training Day”, “The Equalizer,” “Southpaw”) is currently awaiting the Sept. 23 release of his upcoming Western “The Magnificent Seven.”
