Dwayne Stafford: Inmate who Beat Up Dylann Roof Out on Bond Due to Donations

*If you are concerned that racist murderer Dylann Storm Roof will get off on an insanity plea, take heart in knowing that an inmate of Roof’s, Dwayne Stafford, has got you back, so to speak.

As we reported earlier this week, Stafford opened up a can of whoop-ass on Roof to the delight of many. Now we’ve learned Stafford was released on bond Friday night after donations poured in for him following his jailhouse assault on Roof.

Stafford was in custody for charges of armed robbery and lying to police. His bond was set at more than $100k.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office has “no control” on how or who posts bond for incarcerated inmates, Maj. Eric Watson said Friday night of Stafford’s release on bond, reports CounterCurrentNews.

Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say Stafford assaulted Roof Thursday morning at the detention center; Roof and his attorneys are not pressing charges in the jail assault.

Earlier on Friday, CCSO officials said there were “obvious violations” by a detention officer who was supposed to be watching Roof at the time Stafford assaulted Roof.

According to Sherriff Al Cannon, Roof was let out of his cell to take a shower at 7:45am on Thursday. Officers checked the surrounding cells to make sure everyone else was locked down. Stafford ” escaped ” his cell and ran down the stairs to assault Roof. Stafford struck Roof with a closed fist.

The assault happened 15 minutes into a new guard shift. Jail officials allowed media to view footage of the incident, but are not releasing it due to security risks.

“[The] disclosure of video of the internal physical layout and configuration of this particular housing unit could endanger the life and health of both inmates and detention officers due to its purpose and the nature of inmates housed therein,” CCSO officials said.

Roof, charged with murder in the deaths of nine people at Mother Emanuel AME church in June 2015, is being held in solitary confinement at the Charleston County Detention Center.

He is escorted out of his cell daily for recreation time and showers.
