*The third season of Fox’s “Empire” will include a recurring politician character played by Mr. Taye Diggs.

The actor, who also recently had a recurring role on the Fox series “Rosewood,” will recur as Angelo Dubois, a New York councilman with a Harvard law degree and a wealthy family background. Instead of pursuing richer endeavors, Dubois instead focuses on local politics and community issues, which inspires Barack Obama comparisons, according to EW.com.

Diggs is the latest guest star added to the Empire ranks for the third season. As previously reported, the show has also cast Birdman and rapper French Montana, who’ll play a music mogul in Lucious Lyon’s inner circle.

The third season of “Empire” premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
