*Ludacris will spend July 4th with the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay and perform in concert for everyone except the 89 prisoners detained under the U.S. war on terror.

According to the Miami Herald, the rapper will play a free show for the troops, Department of Defense contractors and Navy families who live there as part of the annual “Freedom Festival” at Guantanamo’s Windward Ferry Landing, which is miles away from the locked-down detention center zone that houses the prisoners.

In previous years Magic! and Jimmy Eat World have played the gig and Plain White T’s just performed on the Landing in October.

“Every year we get a special guest around the Fourth of July, but Gitmo hasn’t seen a star with as big a name as Ludacris in several years,” Navy Chief Monique Hilley told the paper. “The base is really looking forward to it.”
