King James, also named Finals MVP, broke the Cleveland curse with the Cavs’ win over Golden State, and in the process helping his team enter history books as the first to overcome a 3 games to 1 deficit to take the title — Cleveland’s first championship since Jim Brown’s Cleveland Browns won the NFL’s big game in December of 1952.
LeBron promised Cleveland the trophy two years ago, when he brought his talents back home from the Miami Heat. “My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now,” James said in 2014.
