2016 Salute Her Awards Launches the Mocha Cares FDN

* Café Mocha,the#1 nationally syndicated radio show for ‘women of color’, kicks off its 2016 Salute Her: Beauty of Diversity Awards and also the Mocha Cares Foundation.

The 2016 Salute Her Awards is presented by McDonald’s in Atlanta on July 6th and 7th.

In partnership with the National Council of Negro Women Greater Atlanta Section, the show will host a series of activities to celebrate the launch of its Mocha Cares Foundation to support housing and services to combat homelessness and domestic violence through mentorship programs.

The ladies of Café Mocha will ‘Takeover the ATL” with activities including mentoring at the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, a live broadcast of Café Mocha on MAJIC 107.5 during the station’s weekly “Wednesday Wind Down” event at Centennial Olympic Park, and Loni’s Comedy Cafe Open Mic at the Uptown Comedy Corner. The inaugural open mic comedy show will provide a platform for would-be comedians to show off their comedic skills.

In addition to the new activities, the show will host its signature fundraiser luncheon, the 2016 Salute Her: Beauty of Diversity Awards presented by McDonald’s luncheon on Thursday, July 7th at The Commerce Club (11am – 2pm).

This year’s honorees include: Deanna Brown Thomas, President of The James Brown Family Children Foundation; Ronnie Tyler, Co-Founder of;Shanti Das, Founder/CEO of Press Reset Entertainment; Jasmine Crowe, Chief Change-Maker and Founder of and more. Tickets can be purchased for $55

Café Mocha launched its annual Salute Her Awards series in 2011, with the goal of recognizing dynamic Black and Latino women, who have made contributions within the communities and breaking down barriers with their businesses.

Past honorees for Salute Her include talk show host Wendy Williams, activist Sybrina Fulton, R&B star Angie Stone, model/reality TV star Cynthia Bailey, media veteranJamie Foster Brown, soul superstar Syleena Johnson, cultural arts pioneer Vy Higginsen, actress/humanitarian Sheryl Lee Ralph, civil rights activist Dr. Bernice King, actress/producer Terri J. Vaughn, and CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield, among others.

Most recently the Salute Her Awards were featured on a recent episode of the BET reality series, “It’s a Mann’s World” with honoree gospel music megastar Tamela Mann and her husband, comedian David Mann.

With our continued growth and visibly we want to use our platform to get out and ‘touch’ our audience with such initiatives as our new co-host’s YoYo’s School of Hip Hop, Loni’s Comedy Café (going back to her roots giving amateurs a opportunity to showcase their skills) as we step up our support of women in transition around the country,” says executive producer Sheila Eldridge.
