Bobby Brown First Saw Whitney do Cocaine on their Wedding Day

*Wow, talk about being candid. Bobby Brown brought the real in his interview with Robin Roberts tonight (06-07-16) on ABC’s “20/20.”

The solo artist and New Edition singer kept it 100, saying in his upcoming memoir, “Every Little Step,” that he first saw Whitney Houston doing drugs on their wedding day, before the ceremony.

Brown writes he broke tradition and peeked in on Houston and was “shocked” to witness her “hunched over a bureau snorting a line of coke.”

He says Whitney offered him a hit, but claims he didn’t accept. He goes on to say that she was doing it because she said she ‘nervous.”

“She wasn’t that,” an emotional Brown told Roberts. “The drugs wasn’t her. She did drugs but drugs didn’t do her. She knew how to handle herself. It only made me love and want to protect her more.”

For some folks Brown’s revelation account refutes previous claims that it was Brown who led Houston to heavy drug use.

“It wasn’t me who started her,” Brown says. “I take my part and I take it hard for me even being a part of it, but we all have our own minds and some of us are stronger than others.”

Brown told Matt Lauer the same thing in a 2012 “Today” show interview that drugs were part of Houston’s life “way before” their relationship. He went on to say he didn’t get high [on narcotics] before he met Houston. “I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all,” he said.

“It’s just unexplainable how one could, you know, [claim that I] got her addicted to drugs,” Brown continued to Laurer – adding that it pained him to hear fans suggest he was responsible. “I’m not the reason she’s gone. It makes me feel terrible. But I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us instead of time looking through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together.”

Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston were married for 15 years. In his interview with ABC, he tells Roberts he’s still deeply in love with Houston.

“For the rest of my life, I will have that feeling towards her because she was the one person that knew me – that one person who had no judgement.”

Brown also opens up about his daughter Bobbi Kristina’s drug abuse – which lead to her death on July 26, 2015, nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her Roswell, Georgia, home.

“The same thing that happened to my daughter, it happened to Whitney,” he tells Roberts. “The hardest thing I had to do in my life was tell my daughter to let go.”
