Snoop Dogg Right on ‘Roots’ Remake for the Wrong Reasons (Video)

*The reboot of “Roots” aired its first episode on Memorial Day, and Snoop Dogg was not in agreement that it should have been broadcast.

Snoop went as far as to announce a impromptu boycott stating, “I’m sick of this. … How the (expletive) they gonna put Roots on Memorial Day?” a subdued Snoop Dogg asks in the selfie video. “They just going to keep beating that (expletive) into our heads as to how they did us, huh?”

Is Snoop correct to demand that “Roots” and series like it go further and tell more of our stories?

My critique of “Roots,” and Snoop is more detailed, find it in the video below.

  1. The remake is garbage! The remake blames Kunta Kinte for being taken into slavery because of a family dispute. Kunta Kinte was taken as a slave while going into the woods to make a drum for his brother. He was forced to be a slave through no fault of his own.

  2. Also, the white remake version has Kunta Kinte leaving his village to study at a university. Kunta Kinte was captured. He did not willingly leave his village or family. This version is so different than the original.
