*It was June 1979 when Philadelphia music luminaries descended on Washington DC. Working for the now defunct WCAU FM a CBS affiliate, I along with the entire who’s-who” of the black entertainment world whiteness as then, United States President Jimmy Carter recognized the great, vast contributions and origin of American music by proclaiming now and hence forth, June as Black Music Month.
Kashif & Friends Black Music Month Celebration
Fast forward to 2016 and soul music is still a driving force in the success of the music industry today, and proud of it. Among them are music legend and powerhouse producer Kashif, along with his epic friends: Meli’sa Morgan, Ray Parker Jr, The System, Howard Johnson and others who are celebrating just that fact on June 17-18, 2016 with two dinner shows per night at the Catalina Jazz Club, in the “city of dreams,” Hollywood California and inviting all music lovers to attend.
