*Comedian Rudy Rush will reportedly replace the late Doug Banks on afternoon radio. Banks died last month after a long battle with Diabetes at age 57. Rush, the former host of “Showtime at the Apollo,” will takeover Doug’s show for the syndication company American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) according to Radio Facts. The 42-year-old funny man previously worked with Banks for eight years on both his syndicated morning show and afternoon drive show.

In 2013, Rush and Banks parted ways and he was replaced on the afternoon show by comedian George Willborn. Rudy currently hosts a successful afternoon radio show from 2pm to 6pm CT in Houston on The Beat 93.7FM. He will co-host the new afternoon show with Doug’s last co-host Dee Dee Renee.

One of Banks’ previous affiliates, Chicago’s V103 has decided not to air the new syndicated show and has already brought on a local radio personality to host the time slot.

Carter Lewis

Meanwhile, Ray Lewis and Chris Carter, who provide analysis for the network’s NFL programs, are reportedly out at ESPN news. Randy Moss, currently with FOX Sports, will be joining the network. With Trent Dilfer also reportedly headed elsewhere.

Yahoo Sports notes that Carter, who has been with ESPN since 2008, has been part of “Sunday NFL Countdown,” “Monday Night Countdown” and other shows. Lewis, who joined ESPN immediately after retiring in 2013, has most prominently been part of “Monday Night Countdown.” He struggled as a broadcaster, both ethically and professionally.

Last month, Ray Lewis III, the son of the former Baltimore Raven, was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Conway, S.C., police. After a warrant for his arrest was issued, Lewis turned himself in.

The arrest warrant alleges that Lewis “engage[d] in sexual battery with an 18-year-old female…with the knowledge that the victim was mentally incapacitated, and/or physically helpless from the use of drugs and/or alcohol.”
