Empire‘s New Doll Collection, CoverGirl Disses Cookie Lyon

Empire Dolls*Fans of Fox’s hit “Empire” will soon be able to purchase a line of collector dolls inspired by Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard), emerging doll makers Tonner-One World announced last Thursday. The company has partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to create the dolls, which will be developed by head designers Robert Tonner and Stacey McBride-Irby, VH1 reports.

“Our beautifully-crafted dolls will immortalize the show’s popular characters, fully embracing the exquisite style aesthetic the show brings to the small screen,” Tonner said.

“It’s a privilege to be aligning our company with Empire, a show whose cultural influence continues to shape modern television,” Corinda Joanne Melton, CEO of One World Holdings, Inc., added.

Images of the actual dolls are not yet available, but the announcement was accompanied by sketches capturing Cookie and Lucious’ signature looks. Check ‘em out below! The collector’s line is part of a two-year licensing agreement with doll company. You can get more details about the forthcoming line of dolls here.

The Houston based Tonner-One World is known for its line of multicultural fashion dolls. “Our beautifully-crafted dolls will immortalize the show’s popular characters, fully embracing the exquisite style aesthetic the show brings to the small screen,” Tonner said in a statement.

The Cookie and Lucious dolls are scheduled to coincide with the Fall premiere.

Tonner-One may see the value in Taraji’s image and likeness, but CoverGirl certainly doesn’t. The beauty brand and Empire are teaming for a line of cosmetics featuring distinct looks tied to all the female characters but Cookie.

Tiana Brown (Serayah), Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey), Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) have inspired the limited edition collection, which doesn’t have a release date—yet, though CoverGirl did say an official commercial is on the way.
