*The President of the United States shared thoughts on Prince following his death Thursday, and now two of the candidates running to replace him have weighed in.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton told a Philadelphia radio station while on the campaign trail that she was “so, so sad” about the news.

“I just want everybody to spend some time reflecting on this American original,” she said Thursday. “He was so extraordinary.”

Republican front-runner Donald Trump revealed via Twitter that he and Prince had crossed paths.

“I met Prince on numerous occasions,” Trump tweeted about the artist who was found dead at the age of 57. “He was an amazing talent and wonderful guy. He will be greatly missed!”

Among the many Prince-penned tunes that have resurfaced in the wake of his death is the track “Donald Trump (Black Version),” a ballad that ended up recorded by The Time for their 1990 album “Pandemonium.”
