*The 42nd Grand Prix of Long Beach truly reflects Southern California living. All the beauty, the sun, the beach and the palm trees set the scene for drivers to drive as fast as they possibly can without traffic.

This year’s event was the fastest ever, escalating quicker than the blink of an eye finish. Starting on Friday, April 15th and ending on Sunday, April 17th, the weekend event brought over 200,000 fans, friends and families together to share in something most people fantasize about – raising a trophy in victory!

Events included VIP track activities, Motegi Racing Super Drift Practice Challenge and the Super Stadium Truck Challenge.

The winner of the Toyota Grand Prix Indy Car race was Simon Pagenaud of France and Hollywood’s very own Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air fame) won his 4th Trophy in the last and final 40th Toyota Grand Prix Pro/Celebrity race. Seeing the faces of the young children (and those who are young at heart), all smiling and cheering as their favorite drivers and cars sped past them at over 180mph was truly magical on a perfect Southern California day.

Another intriguing experience was taking in the behind the scenes prep for the Grand Prix, and talking to the mechanics and technicians who build the infrastructure for what happens on the track. Diesel Reeves is ecstatic about his 4th season with Firestone and experiencing the Grand Prix of Long Beach. He enjoys travelling to other similar events around the globe and says that excelling in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is another way to get on the fast track to a career in the world of professional racing.

This event is a true bucket list contender. This reporter is glad to say that I was at the first race in 1975 and I hope to be in attendance when we earthlings can go to the Moon for a weekend holiday. “Fast” Eddie White  also got an opportunity to interview the very first winner of the Long Beach Grand Prix Brian Redman for more updates and more images of fast cars from the Long Beach Grand Prix, follow “Fast” Eddie White on Instagram at: @DR_DREAMMAKER
