*Fox Searchlight on Friday finally released a trailer for “The Birth of a Nation,” the film that slayed Sundance and just this week stirred up buzz at Cinemacon.
Nate Parker — this year’s CinemaCon breakthrough director of the year award winner — wrote, directed, produced and stars in the drama about the 1831 slave rebellion.
As previously reported famously received the most enthusiastic standing ovation at Sundance, where it sold to Fox Searchlight for a record $17.5 million. The studio will release it on Oct. 7 – just in time for awards season.
Armie Hammer, Penelope Ann Miller, Jackie Earle Haley, Mark Boone Jr. co-star.
