Ice Cube Challenges Charlie Day to ‘Fist Fight’ in 2017 Comedy

Ice Cube_ Charlie Day*On Tuesday, Warner Bros. announced 4 new titles slated for 2017, and one of them is an Ice Cube comedy titled “Fist Fight,” which TV director Richie Keen (“Shameless,” “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”) is to direct, from a script penned by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser.

Joining Cube in “Fist Fight” is Charlie Day, star of the popular TV series, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Tracy Morgan, Christina Hendrick and Jillian Bell round out the cast for the film, which Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing with Billy Rosenberg and Max Greenfield.

The “Fist Fight” plot reads: “When one school teacher (Charlie Day) gets the other (Ice Cube) fired, he is challenged to an after-school fight,” per IMDB.

Warner Bros. has scheduled the movie for a February 17, 2017 Presidents’ Day weekend release. The film will be competing with “The Dark Tower,” 20th Century Fox’s “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” and Universal’s Matt Damon movie “The Great Wall.” Additionally, horror film “Annabelle 2” from New Line is set to open on May 19 .

Cube just co-starred with Kevin Hart in “Ride Along 2,” and has “Barbershop 3” due out April 15. The rapper-actor-producer most recently teamed up with director Tim Story for a remake of “A Christmas Carol.”

Deadline reports that the other films on the studio’s roster for next year are Ben Affleck’s fourth feature as director “Live By Night,” which arrives October 20. Affleck also wrote and produced the flick, in which he stars as a prodigal son of a Boston police captain who grows to be a criminal gangster. The cast also includes Sienna Miller, Chris Messina, Zoe Saldana and Elle Fanning.

Warner Bros. has scheduled the Fist Fight to drop February 17, 2017 Presidents’ Day weekend. The film will be competing with “The Dark Tower,” 20th Century Fox’s “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” and Universal’s Matt Damon movie “The Great Wall.” Additionally, horror film “Annabelle 2” from New Line is set to open on May 19, the weekend before Memorial Day.
