Gadget Guy: Apple’s ‘Loop You In’ Event – Here’s All You Need to Know!

What’s up Gadgeteers! It’s that time of the year again… Apple’s Spring presentation. Or as they refer to it, the “Apple Loop You In” event.

Those of you who have iPhone or iPads, you can really appreciate these gigabits of information. So sit back, relax, and read all of the goodness this event provided.

Apple Watch– Apple introduced even more watch bands for the most popular selling smartwatch . They also lowered the price of the base model to $299. Unfortunately they didn’t introduce the 2nd generation of the watch which was sort of a downer considering that the first version of the Apple Watch has been out for more than a year now, but there’s always hope that a new version will be announced in the Fall along with the highly anticipated iPhone 7 (keeping fingers crossed.)

iPhone SE – This phone has the same body as the iPhone 5 but with all the capability  of the iPhone 6. People who hated the jump in size from the iPhone 5 to the 6 can now get their smaller sized phone with updated features. The starting price is $399 for the 16 GB model (why didn’t they bump it to 32 GB, I’m not sure) But if you want the 64 GB model you will shell out $499.99, which isn’t bad for an iPhone. If your carrier still offers 2 year contracts (most don’t), you can get the 16 GB model for FREE and the 64 GB for $99. But since carriers now want to make you pay for the phone, you can pay as little as $17 per month for the 16 GB model.

The phone also comes in the same colors as the iPhone 6s: Rose Gold, Space Gray, Gold, and Silver. Overall it looks like a great device and if you’re looking for a phone that fits in your hand comfortably, then Apple has reinvented the wheel and has given you this opportunity!

iOS 9.3 – Apple says that this update is the biggest version update ever with these advanced new features: Night Shift- The new reading mode allows for a user to read better at night which Apple says is better for your eyes and also allows for a better night’s sleep.

Notes – Now allows for Touch ID password protection for your most important notes.

Health- Allow for more tracking and functionality to help you take care of your most important asset; your health
News- Now curates content faster and more personalized.

Car Mode – provides more functionality for your car. Apple has partnered with even more car manufacturers to allow for more accuracy.

Education – Apple has promised that there is more functionality in the classroom, especially for the iPad.

iPad Pro 9.7 – Yes, Apple follows suit basically giving you the same functionality as the iPad Pro debuted in November with a smaller size. It costs less than the 1st iPad Pro (which is no brainer, because it’s smaller.) The display is better than the iPad Air 2. The new iPad Pro is 40% less reflective than the iPad Air 2. It’s 25% brighter than the iPad 2. It has a true tone display, which is similar to a piece of paper. It automatically senses the tone of the light and matches the screen based on the light. There is a pro audio system with 4 speakers that 2x louder than the iPad Air 2. It has Apple’s latest chip, the A9x which is used in the first IPad Pro. Of course it allows for the all the accessories that were announced with the first iPad Pro. There’s a smart keyboard and the pencil which, from what I’m told, operate awesomely.

Let’s talk about cost. The 32GB Model costs $599, the 128GB is $749 and for the first time ever, the 256GB iPad Pro is $899 The iPad Air which was previously Apple’s premium iPad will see a $100 price reduction, now starting at $399 for the 16GB version. We will see?

So are you going to upgrade to the iPad Pro? What about the new iPhone SE? Even if you’re not in the market for any of these items, you should at least upgrade to iOS 9.3. That’s it for now … this is your friendly neighborhood Gadget Guy signing out.
