Asked if he’d like to address the court before his sentencing for unlawful imprisonment and carrying a concealed weapon, 21-year-old Brian Earl Taylor broke out in song – choosing to croon his apologies in a tune that started out a lot like Adele’s “Hello.”
“Hello there, your honor,” he sang at his March 10th sentencing. He continued: “I want to say I’m sorry for the things I’ve done and I’ll try and be stronger in this life I chose, but I want you to know — that door, I closed. And your honor I’m sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.”
Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Darlene O’Brien said nothing as Taylor continued his ditty, which was captured on courtroom video. Taylor went on to belt “I’m sorry” to his mother and to his victim.
Even more alarming, no one in the background or at the defense table seemed taken aback.

According to The Ann Arbor News, Judge O’Brien said Taylor was “obviously a talented young man.” She then sentenced him to up to 17 years in prison.
