*In light of Kanye West’s frequent social media meltdowns, Gabriel Ferrer, a senior copywriter at Alma, has launched a new website with the sole purpose of taking attention away from the disturbed rapper and onto other, more important, social issues and charities.

After Kanye admitted that he’s $53 million in debt, asked mogul Mark Zuckerburg for money, and suggested fans fund his creative endeavors rather than donate money to build schools in Africa, Ferrer created a site called ‘Help Kenya, Not Kanye,’ which uses aspects of West’s brand to highlight specific charities. Links to the charities appear on the site’s splash page.

“I’ve always been a huge Kanye fan,” Ferrer tells AdFreak, “But because he frequently makes a fool of himself, people are like, ‘How can you defend this guy?’ Everybody started texting and tweeting at me when he went on this latest rant and expecting a response, so instead of defending him, I figured I would shift the conversation in a positive way.”

Gabriel says he was inspired to create the site after watching Kanye on the ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ in which he clarified his previous comment about African schools.

“My concept,” he adds, “was to equate the value of things Kanye is selling to exactly what you can get for that total in Africa.”

For example, instead of dropping $200 on a pair Yeezy Adidas boots, you could spend that to buy resources for a school in need.

“Technically, I don’t want all the help to go to Kenya,” Ferrer says. “But it works with the pun.”

The site has been a hit so far on social media, with one Twitter user saying, “If you really want a GOOD Friday, help Kenya not Kanye.”

“Of all the things I’ve done, this has gotten the best response … and it’s something I did in my living room with no money,” said Ferrer. “Twenty percent of people who responded said they donated. Most just tell me that it’s funny, and a small percentage are saying, Don’t twist this, you’re just piggybacking for your cause.”
