* Hyundai ’s global car designer Andre Hudson visits “Auto Trends with JeffCars.com” this Saturday. Hudson, the first black car designer to work for the Korean automaker, has been designing cars for close to 20 years.
He has had a number of hits along the way. One of his standout designs was the curvaceous 2011 Hyundai Sonata, which really changed consumers’ perception of the automaker.
With close to 200,000 of Hudson’s Sonatas being sold in America in 2010, the stylish family sedan was the major driving force in Hyundai hitting the 500,000 new-vehicle sales mark, a first for the Korean automaker. Since 2009, the Sonata has consistently topped 200,000 units.
Later this summer, Hyundai launches a new luxury brand, the Genesis, which will join the ranks of such established brands as Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar.
The 2017 Genesis G90, the brand’s new luxury flagship, exterior was heavily influenced by Hudson’s keen eye for design. Tune in this Saturday as Hudson talks about everything from his role with the G90 to the courses every school system should offer to what inspired him to become a car designer to the impact of a great car design to what motivates him to the life-changing career risk he took to how he wants to be remembered by his heart and soul.
