*Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. is set to star in faith-based drama “The Reason,” joining Beverly Todd, Tatyana Ali and Kelly Carlson, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, based on the William Sirls book, follows a small-town pastor, his wife and their sick child as a mysterious man is sent to give them hope.
Gossett, an Emmy-winner for the TV miniseries “Roots,” was the first African American male actor to win an Oscar for a supporting role and only the third to win overall.
He’ll be presenting at the 88th Oscars on Sunday, Feb 28.
