*This was supposed to happen at the Grammys last week, but it’s better late than never for The Weeknd and Lauryn Hill, who appeared together on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to perform “In the Night.”
The pair were set to perform the number at the Feb. 15 Grammy ceremony, but after rehearsals earlier in the day, Hill never made it back for the live show, according to Recording Academy president Neil Portnow.
Hill’s camp said organizers “announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval.”
On “The Tonight Show,” The Weeknd began the song alone, then, surprised the audience by bringing Hill out midway through.
