O.J. Not Feeling Portrayal of Johnnie Cochran in ‘People V. Simpson’ Ads

*A lawyer for O.J. Simpson says the jailed former NFL star is NOT happy with ads and interviews about the 10-part FX miniseries “The People Vs. O.J. Simpson,” premiering tonight at 10.

His Las Vegas attorney Malcolm LaVergne told The Associated Press that Simpson has no problem with the way he is portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. But he believes that his defense lawyer Johnnie Cochran, whom he loved, is depicted unfairly in the trial scenes from the promos. His problem seems to lie with the way the character is written, not the portrayal by Courtney B. Vance.

Simpson won’t be able to see the show, which follows the legal battles during his murder trial. State corrections spokeswoman Brooke Keast says Nevada prisons don’t carry the FX network.

The 68-year-old Simpson is being held at Lovelock Correctional Center on a 2008 kidnapping and armed robbery conviction. He’ll be eligible for parole in 2017.
