Olivia Pope and Jake Ballard Bring Sexy Back in ‘Scandal’ Midseason Premiere

Kerry Washington, Scott Foley*The first teaser for the second half of “Scandal” was released on Thursday by ABC and it finds Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) in prime gladiator form – dissing presidential hopeful Mellie (Bellamy Young) and turning up the sexy with Jake Ballard (Scott Foley).

“I don’t like waiting,” Jake tells Olivia in the teaser, to which she replies, “Then don’t,” proceeding to jump into his arms for a steamy make out session.

Check out the trailer below.

She’s definitely changed,” Washington said of Olivia at the Television Critics Association’s press tour earlier this month. “What happened at the end of the winter finale is a huge decision for her, and she’s a different woman because of it.”

Last October, Foley told Variety that he’s just as invested in Olivia’s romantic fate as fans.

“I love watching them together and seeing how it goes, he said. “The show has done such a great job of playing out that love triangle,” between Olivia, Jake and Fitz. “I’m excited to see what happens with them,” he said.

Tony Goldwyn also spoke to Variety at the Television Critics Association about Fitz and Olivia’s estrangement, teasing that they won’t be on the best of terms when the new episodes return.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes recently told EW what fans can expect the second half of the season. “We have had a really interesting time over at Scandal with the stories that we’re telling,” she said. “We really went full White House for the first half of the season. The people that you’re coming back to for the second half of the season have been fundamentally changed forever when we come back to them. The evolution of those people is exactly where I have been hoping they were going, so I’m very excited about it.”

“Scandal” returns Feb. 11 at 9 p.m., along with the premieres of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How To Get Away With Murder.”
