*“Straight Outta Compton” was nominated for best picture at the Critics’ Choice Awards, but the N.W.A. biopic was snubbed from the picture and acting categories in at the Oscars.

Co-star O’Shea Jackson Jr., who plays his father Ice Cube, told USA Today he didn’t really “stress on” the Oscar omission at the Critics’ Choice carpet. In fact, it just makes him want to work harder.

“All we can do is go back to the drawing board, sharpen up our tools and give them something they definitely can’t deny,” said the young actor.

In fact, he said he was happy with getting “the green over the gold”:

“There’s nothing you can do. The voters are people with their own opinions just like you and I. The people made it their No. 1 biopic. The people made Gary (Gray) the No. 1 black director. It’s a movie for the people, and the people accept it.”
