*Jada Pinkett Smith’s outrage against the Oscars continues on.

The actress has followed up her series of tweets Sunday with a video, in which she also suggests boycotting the Academy Awards show over its lack of minority representation among the nominations.

Jada — whose husband, Will Smith, was overlooked by the Academy for his performance in “Concussion” — says, “Maybe it’s time we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit, that are just as good as the so-called mainstream.”

Jada suggested, “We can no longer beg for the love, acknowledgement or respect of any group.”

  1. I stand in total solidarity, Jada. I, too, wish Chris Rock the best as host. But I, along with you, will not be watching.

  2. I totally agree. with Jada Smith The Oscars was created for and acknowledges those who vote for their favorite artists. We are not part of this private organization and we do not need to beg to be included. There are far too many things that we need to focus our attention and energy on and the Oscars is not part of the list. We do not need to be manipulated or pawns to whomever wants a seat at that table and cavalierly uses our awesome and creative culture to allow them a seat at the table to negotiate for us, for what? Please, let’s talk about quality education, food, shelter and progressive medical care. Then we can sit back and create whatever award show we want where we can acknowledge our own talented artists. Wait a minute we do have that… BET has a plethora of award shows acknowledging folks that look like us and exhibits entertainment that excites us. It’s time we empowered ourselves and let go of invisible the hoop and create our own. We are a powerful people and it’s time we start acting and living like we are.
