*You’ve no doubt heard of “driving while black,” right? Well, get ready for a new one: “banking while black.”

It happened to Sam Benson, a rapper who goes by the stage name Blac Youngsta.

Intending to buy a new Mercedes Benz, on Friday (01-08-16) Benson went to a Wells Fargo branch near the upscale Buckhead section of Atlanta, and as you’ve probably guessed, that’s when things went south, so to speak.

After withdrawing $200,000 in cash and exiting bank, he was met with police, one of whom pointed a gun to his head,

“They come bum rushing me at the car, put me on the ground; putting guns to my head,” says Blac Youngsta. “So, I’m like ‘What did I do?’ A lady was like I’m not supposed to have…$200,000 on me. I’m like, ‘I’m a millionaire. How can I not have $200,000 on me?’”

Blac Youngsta, was detained Friday outside an Atlanta, Ga., bank after being confused with a check fraudster.

Police claimed that someone wrote a fraudulent check previously and they thought he was the suspect.

“They confused me but I’m legit,” the rapper exclaimed.

When APD checked his account, Blac Youngsta had $1.3 million deposited. Eventually police returned his money and issued an apology over the incident.

“They couldn’t believe I was young, black, handsome as hell and they couldn’t believe I was getting $200K out,” said Blac Youngsta. “I had my Rolex on with all the diamonds in it, all my rich stuff today.“

When asked why he did not just write a check for the car he said:

“The thing is I’m a rapper. How I live my life, I don’t believe in checks. I’ve always dreamed about going in the bank, getting a half a million out and taking it to the car lot. Where I come from we don’t believe in taking checks to the car lot we pay cash money.” He stated that he carries a $100K on him all the time and because the police made him so mad he just might go to the strip club and spend the cash.

by the way, the alleged forger that inspired Blac Youngsta’s detention, Charles D. Edward, was captured at the bank a short time later after he cashed a fraudulent $24,000 check.

  1. @bevity 100% agreed. Arrogance and ignorance are a recipe for getting robbed. He’s not even wealthy, he’s hood rich and he proved it by those ignorant statements.

  2. 200 grand is really not that much money in today’s economy.
Like what the fuck can you do with it?
Maybe a sports car, but you could barely get a decent house with that.

FYI, White people do that shit all the time and “get away” with it.
I’ve actually been in Wells Fargo lines and see white people in front of me withdrawing hundreds of thousands in cash. And still no squad cars outside waiting to greet them.

I’m just surprised that he hasn’t said anything about a lawsuit against the bank and police for what they subjected him to. They took that man’s jacket in freezing weather and had him looking like a bank robber for an hour in the parking lot.
