*GARDENA, Calif — “We mourn the loss of the 14 victims in today’s mass shooting in San Bernadino and pray for the recovery of the 17 injured at the Inland Regional Center, a provider of social services for the developmentally disabled.
This latest tragedy, the seventh in five months nationwide, underscores the need to address the proliferation of gun violence. The three suspects used assault style weapons and hand guns.
I stand with President Barack Obama and agree that we need more background checks for weapons. I would also include the purchase of ammunition.
Unfortunately, shootings routinely occur in the 64th and neighboring districts and have recently spiked.
Our prayers and condolences go out to all of the families and friends who have suffered loss because of these atrocities.”
