Compton Mayor Aja Brown and Rapper YG Host Community Thanksgiving Dinner [VIDEO]

*COMPTON – Compton Mayor Aja Brown hosted this year’s Compton Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Wed., Nov. 25 at the Douglas F. Dollarhide Community Center.

The Mayor was joined by rapper and Compton native Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson better known as YG, who helped to serve over 500 hot meals to local residents as well as give away bags of groceries.

The meals were provided by YG’s non-profit organization 4Hundred Waze with additional support from Shiekh Shoes and the non-profit Compton Empowered. All of the food was prepared by YG’s mother Shonee Jackson.

Speaking on the event, Mayor Brown said, “it’s really a labor of love. Some people don’t have a home or a place where they can cook a warm meal and so we’re thankful for the generosity of YG and the 4Hundred Waze Foundation to feed the community in the city of Compton.”

The Compton Christmas Parade will take place on December 12. To find out first who this year’s celebrity grand marshal is, follow the City of Compton on Twitter at @ComptonCityHall, Instagram at @ComptonCityHall and on Facebook at Facebook.com/ComptonCityCA. Now trending at #VisionForCompton.
