First off …. before i give u info of the Unsung Marathon starting today, Thanksgiving & ending Tues Dec 1st >>>HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEKEND TO EVERYBODY!!
Am i a sore loser, which is what my friend Kandi Burruss called me?? No, not really. Out of two top 10 ratings charts, my group, Full Force, once had the distinction of being the highest rated Unsung episode in TV One’s history which featured not only our musical body of work & House Party acting chops, but it also featured my beloved Full Force brother Paul Anthony’s Cancer Champion journey. Now, Xscape is the highest rated UnSung ever in TV One’s history. In both UnSung Top 10 charts too. Dammit!
TV One has a top 10 chart for the lucrative sponsor driven general age demographics of 18-49 & they also have an over-all Top 10 chart. Kandi Burruss’ former group, Xscape, is number 1 on both top 10 charts doggone it!! Even though the legendary David Ruffin beat us before Xscape did, i guess because Kandi is my longtime friend, it stung a little more since i’m always be joking with her on stuff plus i must admit, i was a little surprised that it became the highest rated of all time. David Ruffin never surprised me when his was top dawg & neither did Big Daddy Kane at one time before us either, but Xscape with my Atlanta Housewife gal Kandi?? Jeeeeez! I remember lots of folks were surprised that Full Force’s episode was highly rated when it premiered. Xscape’s episode re-airs December 1st, by the way.
All jokes aside, i love Kandi & i love Xscape’s story & their artist history especially cause my friend who was a part of that great hit making group. I heard that not everybody in the group was totally happy with their UnSung episode but you cant please everybody. I also send a respectable shoutout to our younger, lil brother Jermaine Dupri for creating the Xscape magic.We’ve known Jermaine since he was a real youngin rappin’ with lil Chad Elliot opening up at the legendary hip hop Fresh Fest tours that featured Run DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, Full Force, UTFO, Fat Boys, Force MDs, etc.
Yo Yo’s Unsungs are both on the Top 10 lists too. She is # 8 on the General Demo>18-49 catagory chart & she is # 3 all time on the overall chart also surging ahead us dammit!! I just got off the phone with YoYo & she is very excited. I told her she surged ahead of us on the overall chart & she laughed with happiness & said GET OUT!! That damn Yo Yo !! Ha, i love Yo Yo. Happy for her. She told me that she never even use to carry TVone in her cable package until she started shooting her UnSung story. I laughed so hard when she told me that. So Full Force is # 3 on the 18-49 demo Top 10 list & we are # 4 on the Overall chart with Xscape, David Ruffin & Yo Yo ahead of us. Regardless, we appreciate & thank Ms. Cathy Hughes & her team for birthing TV One in the first place.

Unsung Marathon Press Release:
In a network first, TV One is airing all 99 episodes of its entire library of its signature series, Unsung, beginning Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. ET. In an epic six-day marathon, the network will air Unsung all day and all night leading up to the 100thepisode premiere on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. ET. Hosted by radio and television legend Donnie Simpson, the landmark episode, Unsung: Top Ten That Changed The Game, will feature a countdown of the top 10 most exceptional Unsung episodes.
In Unsung: Top Ten That Changed The Game, Simpson will take viewers through 10 of the artists featured on the series that had the most impact on the audience and the culture. These profiles were selected for their representation of the breadth and depth of the series through fan feedback, social engagement and impact on pop culture.
“Since its conception over seven years ago, Unsung has been, hands-down, one of our most loved series,” commented Brad Siegel, TV One’s President. “Music is at the root of black culture and this show continues to celebrate and honor artists vital to those roots and explore stories that continue to shock and amaze our viewers today.”
The marathon and 100th episode will be touted across TV One’s digital and social landscape with episodic trivia, quizzes and user guesses for the top 10 artists. In addition to the six-day Unsung event, themed episodes will air in primetime throughout the marathon:
