*NBC’s “Chicago Med” will at last make its debut on Tuesday (11-17-15), bringing S. Epatha Merkerson back to the network as  a woman in charge.

Following her 17-season run as NYPD Lieutenant Anita Van Buren on Dick Wolf’s “Law & Order,” Merkerson steps into this newest Dick Wolf production as Sharon Goodwin, Chicago Med’s Chief Administrator of Clinical Operations.

Goodwin expects nothing less than the best from her staff as she deals with the drama of running the city’s largest hospital, which just so happens to house Chicago’s newest state-of-the-art trauma center.

“The one thing that Van Buren was, most assuredly, was in charge. And I don’t know if she was as flawed as I would have wanted her to be. I think that with Sharon Goodwin, there’s an opportunity to show a woman who is very focused on her job, but also who is somewhat flawed,” Merkerson told critics at the TCA Summer press tour about her character.

“So I’m looking forward to having a full person to work with,” she continued. “But, it’s a part of my personality, you know. I am a little bossy.”

Meanwhile, Yaya DaCosta – last seen as Whitney Houston in the Lifetime biopic “Whitney” – stars as Chicago Med nurse April Sexton, described as “the lifeblood of the ER.”

‘She’s the nurse that the doctors turn to when something needs to get done,” said the Brooklyn-born actress and former “America’s Next Top Model” finalist . “She’s the liaison between all the other nurses and the doctors, as well as the patients when the doctors are too busy to speak to the patients in a calm, compassionate way and explain things.”

Below, DaCosta tells us how much of the characters’ lives away from the hospital will be shown:

“Chicago Med,” the third in NBC’s Dick Wolf franchise alongside “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.,” premieres Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m.”

It also stars Colin Donnell (“Arrow”) as Chicago Med newcomer Dr. Connor Rhodes; Nick Gehlfuss (“Shameless”) as chief ER resident Dr. Will Halstead, the brother of Chicago P.D. detective Jay Halstead, played by Jesse Soffer; and Oliver Platt (“Fargo”), who plays Chief of Psychiatry Dr. Daniel Charles.”
