Mary J. Blige Desires a Broadway-Style Life Story, Lists NJ Mansion

mary-j-blige*Mary J. Blige has made a career of putting her life out there through her music and she would love to expand that experience on a theatrical stage.

In Blige’s eyes, her life story could be fully transferable from the studio to Broadway.

“I definitely want to see the Mary J. Blige story–or just one of the album cycles–on Broadway,” the singer told Playbill.

With 11 studio albums and a Christmas album to her credit, Blige has more than enough material to draw from, if things worked out for a theater run on the Great White Way.

“To just have one of those albums, turns or times on Broadway would be crazy,” she continued.

Blige’s hopes for a stage-bound version of her life story comes as she preps to take the stage herself as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West for NBC’s upcoming musical adaption, “The Wiz Live!

The production, — which also features Queen Latifah, David Alan Grier, Uzo Aduba, Amber Riley, Elijah Kelly, Common, Ne-Yo, Stephanie Mills and Shanice Williams — is set to air live on Dec. 3.

In the meanwhile, Blige is saying goodbye to her Saddle River, N.J., mansion home as she and her husband, Kendu Isaacs, list the home for sale at $13 million.

The Los Angeles Times reports the 13,173 square foot three-level mansion was built in 2000 and sits on a 4.2-acre estate. Amenities include two dining rooms, a library, a wine cellar and a screening room, not to mention a kitchen featuring two islands, custom cabinets and a sunroom.

Looking deeper, the residence carries a master suite that has dual bathrooms, dual closets and an espresso station. In all, the mansion has eight bedrooms, ten full bathrooms and three powder rooms as well as two grand staircases and an elevator.

The Times notes that the property was purchased seven years ago for $12.3 million and even has an indoor basketball court, a gym, sauna, steam room, swimming pool and pool house to add to all the other luxuries populating the home.
