*There are many perks to working on “Empire,” TV’s hottest drama.
For co-star Trai Byers, one of them was meeting his future wife, co-star Grace Gealey.
Another one takes place on tonight’s episode.
“Working with Marisa Tomei was a dream,” the actor told us of her return to the show. “I love her from ‘My Cousin Vinny’ and like, this love affair goes back all the way.”
When we last saw Tomei’s Mimi Whiteman, she had agreed to join Andre (Byers), Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) and Anika (Gealey) to fund a hostile takeover of Empire from Lucious (Terrence Howard), only to double cross them and invest her million with Lucious instead.
Andre, having earned his way back to Empire and now running its imprint Gutter Life Records, will see Mimi again in the Nov. 11 episode, titled “True Love Never.”
“She is so humble and just a wonderful, wonderful artist to work with,” Byers says of the Oscar winner. “We all really got along well, and she added to us in a great way.”
