*Los Angeles, CA — Friends of Fuller B. Gordy, an organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding, yet unsung, individuals and organizations, announce their 8th annual “Friends of Fuller Strikefest,” to be held on November 11th at Jillian’s Universal City Walk. This year’s event will benefit the Challengers Boys and Girls Club.

The Strikefest honors the late Fuller B. Gordy, who was a thoughtful and savvy Motown executive, member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and first black bowler from the State of Michigan to be inducted into the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). The eldest brother of Motown founder, Berry Gordy, Fuller’s philanthropic endeavors are wide-ranging and legendary. He died of a heart attack on November 9, 1991, and is truly missed.

In 2008, former Motown executive, Iris Gordy (Fuller’s daughter) was at a bowling outing with her daughter, entertainment Host and producer, Karla Gordy Bristol. She realized that bowling would be a wonderful way to honor her father’s memory. Friends and associates often recounted their “Fuller stories” and recalled that their careers and/or lives would not have been as successful, if not for her Fuller’s generous mentoring and guidance. She shared the idea with Karla and the Friends of Fuller Strikefest was born.

The four-hour, fun-filled event has been an annual, entertainment industry place to be, offering dinner, live performances, silent auction, bowling and much more. Each year, the Strikefest stage has welcomed Motown Alumni, former Motown artists, industry celebs, special guests, friends and mentees of Fuller Gordy. Past performers include Teena Marie, Howard Hewitt, Thelma Houston, Tata Vega, Ollie Woodson of the Temptations, Freda Payne, Scherrie Payne formerly of the Supremes, and Brenda Holloway. This year’s entertainment will be equally exciting.
