*“Extra” was able to speak to Halle Berry Wednesday night during a benefit for the Jenesse Center Inc., a domestic violence intervention program she has championed for years.
“I’m doing okay, I really am,” said the actress, in the midst of a divorce from her husband Olivier Martinez in October, following two years of marriage.
“I, I keep pushing and I’m really happy to be here because whenever you’re going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that’s always the best remedy for any situation that you’d rather not be dealing with,” she added.
Berry, whose has a son Maceo with Martinez, says her 7-year-old daughter Nahla is well aware of her mother’s strength during this difficult time. “Oh yeah, you should be in my house!” Berry said of her daughter, who is taking notice of things.
Berry also said that Maceo, who just turned one, has had the chicken pox since Halloween.
“Maceo didn’t go trick-or-treating,” she said. “Nahla was a zombie cheerleader, and we had a great time. …I was a pirate and she’s like, ‘You’re a sexy pirate, Mommy,’ I’m like, ‘What do you know about a sexy pirate?'”
