Terrence Howard Talks Retirement After ‘Empire’ (WATCH)

terrence-howard*While Terrence Howard’s present is very much a good thing, with the success of “Empire,” the actor’s future after his time on the show is over may make a few fans sad as he revealed his intent to retire.

“I want to give Lucious the rest that I have in this creative space, and then I want to raise my son,” Howard shared with “Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli as he gushed about his son Qirin and estranged wife Mira Pak at the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Global Down Syndrome Fashion Show in Denver. “I’ve got a beautiful baby boy. I’ve met my one, and I’ll be with her until time definite.”

Howard’s good fortune with “Empire” comes amid a past filled with roles in noteworthy films on the big screen and an Oscar nomination. Yet, he admits that, “I was never as famous as a film actor as I am now.”

As for whether he can wrap his head around the success and stellar ratings of “Empire,” Howard referenced his co-star Taraji P. Henson, saying, “Not really. I’m still trying to stay in the game with the Cookie Monster.”

“When you have Taraji P. Henson on your coattails, I’m like, ‘Am I still number one? Is it still my show?’ Yeah, I’m number one. It’s still mine.”

For anyone wondering if there’s been beef with Henson and Howard, don’t worry. According to him, there was “never a feud.

“The only feud we have is who’s going to get the weekend off, who’s going to work the latest on Friday,” he said while teasing what’s to come on season 2 of “Empire.”

“Maybe [Lucious] having a bipolar mother had a huge effect on him,” Howard shared. “That is one of the things we’re uncovering.”
