*Nickelodeon has no plans to renew the sitcom “Instant Mom,” announcing that this current third season will be the last for the Tia Mowry-Hardrict-starring comedy.

As Deadline reports, three seasons has been the longest a Nick at Nite original series has run, matched by the network’s first original comedy, “See Dad Run,” which produced 50 episodes, while “Instant Mom” produced 65. The first season ran on Nick at Nite, the second ran on Nick at Nite and NickMom and the third season was moved to sister network TV Land, where it is currently airing, with the series finale slated for December.

“Instant Mom” stars Mowry-Hardrict as Stephanie, a former party girl who becomes a full-time stepmom to three kids when she marries the more traditional Charlie (Michael Boatman). Back in 2013, Tia gushed about playing the role of a mother for the first time in her career.

“Stephanie is very vibrant, energetic, sassy and fun. She’s a great step mom. She’s definitely different than any character I’ve previously played, as I’ve never played a mom before,” she said.

The series’ cast includes Sheryl Lee Ralph, who also expressed her excitement about the series back in a 2013 interview, describing it as, “a wonderful piece of situation comedy. It’s amazing because it is also simply funny. It’s classic. It’s intergenerational meaning you can sit down and everybody gets something out of it. There’s something in it for everybody. It’s a throwback to the classic days of TV comedy. It’s purely funny. Great cast, great script.”

With the series cancelled, and no originals in the immediate works, Nick at Nite is putting its original scripted programming on pause, and it’s unclear whether that move will be permanent.

“This schedule change is only specific to Instant Mom,” a Nick spokesperson said.
