*Bill Cosby’s sexual assault accusations are now part of an attack ad in a Pennsylvania political campaign.

Democrat Kevin Steele is running for district attorney in Montgomery County, outside Philadelphia. His opponent, Republican Bruce Castor, is PA’s former top prosecutor trying to win back his old job.

Steele’s new ad attacks Castor for not charging Cosby in February 2005, when Temple employee Andrea Constand said the comedian had drugged and molested her. Castor announced then he was not filing charges against Cosby, citing “insufficient credible and admissible evidence,” even though 14 other women (13 who were only identified as “Jane Does”) had come forward to support her story.

Constand’s attorneys had said they had physical evidence to support the claims of one of those women.

Castor calls Steele’s attack ad the work of a “desperate candidate.” He says he didn’t have enough evidence in 2005 to bring charges against Cosby, who has denied all allegations and settled Constand’s lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Cosby has replaced his longtime lawyer Martin D. Singer with a new firm as he faces court battles stemming from the multiple allegations.

Cosby’s camp wouldn’t elaborate on the decision. His spokeswoman would only say that Singer’s firm “no longer represents Mr. Cosby.”

Singer was in the midst of representing the actor against a civil suit filed by Judy Huth, who claims the entertainer forced her to perform a sex act on him when she was 15. Cosby was questioned under oath about the allegations last week, and Huth’s lawyer, Gloria Allred, has said she wants to question Cosby under oath a second time.

Singer was also representing Cosby in a defamation suit filed by Janice Dickinson, a former model who has accused Cosby of drugging and raping her in 1982.

Allred said Tuesday she didn’t know why Cosby decided to replace Singer with Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, a firm that specializes in business litigation and arbitration. But in a statement she suggested that the firm is large and intimidating.

“Mr. Cosby has decided to hire 700 lawyers to fight one woman,” Allred said.
