Why Bernie Sanders Mentioned Sandra Bland During Dem Debate

*Hmmm, maybe it’s time to give some serious props to Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

No, not necessarily for running for POTUS, but for electing not to capitalize on a meaningful meeting with the mother of Sandra Bland.

The meeting, according to Yahoo, reportedly took place at East Street Café, a Thai restaurant at Union Station in Washington, D.C., five days before the first Democratic presidential debate.

The Rev. Hannah Adair Bonner, a pastor at St. John’s Church in downtown Houston, wrote in her blog about noticing the Vermont senator at another table while she was eating dinner with Geneva Reed-Veal, whose daughter became a face of the Black Lives Matter campaign following her death in police custody in July.

The pastor said she approached Sanders and asked if he would like to meet Reed-Veal and told him their group had asked if he would take a picture with them.

“He did not impose upon Ms. Geneva to ask for a picture of his own. He did not use the moment as an opportunity to promote his campaign,” she wrote. “He took no record; he made no statement. He did not try to turn it into a publicity stunt.”

By the way, Reverend Bonner, pictured above to the left of Reed-Veal, is also a Black Lives Matter activist. She said she was impressed by everyone’s sincerity.

Sanders told Reed-Veal that the death of her daughter was inexcusable and promised he would continue to “say her name.” And wouldn’t you know it, he just that at the debate on Oct. 13 in Las Vegas. It happened when he answered a question submitted by a law student through Facebook: “Do black lives matter, or do all lives matter?”

  1. “Do black lives matter, or do all lives matter?”

Wow! What an embarrassingly stupid question to ask a presidential candidate.

All lives matter, but one has to stress the fact that black lives matter, since the actions of the police would indicate that black lives don’t matter.
How else can one explain the FACT that an UNARMED black man is seven times more likely to be killed by the police?

White people may want to read the following before continuing to make an ass of themselves over the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Seeing that it’s coming from a white family may help bring them back to their senses.

    brief excerpt:
Black Lives Matter. As a family, we believe that Black lives matter, and we find it alarming that the statement incites such a backlash. Neither our sign nor the Black Lives Matter movement says that ONLY Black lives matter, or that Black lives matter more than anyone else, and the sign certainly doesn’t say anything about police officers. When you’re putting out a house fire, it doesn’t mean that you only care about that one house that’s burning; it just means you’re addressing the crisis at hand. Folks dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer aren’t saying that all other cancers are unimportant. Our family recognizes that all lives are important, and because we believe that, we know that Black lives matter.

  2. Mr. Sanders mentioned Ms. Sandra Bland. In my opinion the officer was out of line, acting outside the scope of his employment when asking Ms. Bland to extinguish her cigarette at the conclusion of the peaceful traffic stop.

With that said, a few months before she left us, activist Sandra Bland recorded a video declaring *”War on the Gang-bangers and Thugs”* who she believes have negatively impacted her quality of life as well as harming peaceful people in her community and many American communities.

Essentially Sandra was speaking about our National Epidemic of Childhood Abuse and Neglect, aka Poverty, that deprives untold American kids of experiencing a safe, fairly happy American kid childhood.

*Childhood Abuse and Neglect* that often leads depressed children to develop into angry, frustrated, unpredictable teens and adults who often cause emotional harm and physical trauma to peaceful people when venting their anger and frustrations for irresponsibly being introduced to a life of pain and struggle by immature single moms or dads

Did Mr. Bernie Sanders hear Sandra’s plea? And if he did, what does he plan to do to protect our neighbors like Ms. Bland from the Gangsta Culture?
