*12-year-old Academy Award nominated actress Quvenzhane Wallis has landed a 4 book deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, according to Page Six. The deal includes a chapter-book trilogy and a picture book to be written by Wallis, who is best known for her role in “Beasts of the Southern Wild.”
Wallis has also appeared in “12 Years a Slave” and last year’s holiday musical “Annie,” for which she received a Golden Globe nomination.
“Reading is very important,” said Wallis. “It allows people to form a visual experience in their minds of what is going on in the story. I hope all readers enjoy using their imaginations along with me and take a journey into my books.”
The books will be “Loosely based on the young author’s own experiences, and will follow “a spunky young heroine who is very much looking forward to a night out with her mom at an awards show. The duo has a grand time getting dressed up, riding in a limo and walking the red carpet.”
The first book will be released in January 2017. The second book and the picture book will follow in fall 2017 and the third book will be released in summer 2018.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Jennifer Hudson opened up about her family tragedy that left her without a mother, brother and nephew, and her son who helped her cope through the grieving process.
In October of 2008, Hudson’s brother-in-law gunned down her mother, brother and nephew in the living room of Hudson’s home. In 2009, Hudson gave birth to her son, and she told the publication that she tells her boy all the time how he saved her life.
“I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child,” she says. “I tell David [now six] all the time, ‘You saved my life.’
After her son was, Hudson and fiancé David Otunga moved from Florida back to her hometown of Chicago. “Here I get to take off Little Miss Celebrity and be normal, let my feet touch the ground,” Jennifer says. “I feel like it keeps me me.”
