Roseburg, Oregon Publisher Declares Pres. Obama is ‘Not Welcome’ (WATCH)

Roseburg Beacon publisher David Jacques and Barack Obama*President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Roseburg, Oregon will not be a welcome sight for the publisher of a local conservative newspaper.

The Blaze references an  interview on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday (Oct. 5) in which David Jaques, the publisher of the Roseburg Beacon, stated that that if Obama makes the trip, he will be “stand[ing] on the corpses” of the nine people who died at the hands of gunman during a mass shooting on the campus of Umpqua Community College.

Obama is set to travel to Roseburg on Friday (Oct. 9) to meet with victims’ families one week after the tragedy.

“Well, I think the president, first of all, is not welcome in the community,” Jaques told host Bill O’Reilly. “And that isn’t just my opinion. We’ve talked to dozens upon dozens of citizens, some family members of the victims, our elected officials.”

Jaques went on to cite comments Obama made during his White House news conference last Friday. Speaking on the massacre, Obama said, “this is something we should politicize” as he renewed his call for stricter gun control measures by calling on Congress, governors and state legislators to act on the issue of gun control.

“Now he wants to come to our community to stand on the corpses of our loved ones to make some kind of a political point and it isn’t going to be well-received,” Jaques said.
