*After 17 years of entertaining America with tales of crime and punishment Emmy Award-winning NBC offering “Law & Order Special Victims Unit: SVU” is the longest-running series on prime-time television today.

EURweb  was in attendance for a round table discussion with the cast and writers. The showrunner was anxious to show off the brand new set down on Chelsea Piers.

Mainstays Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T and Kelli Giddish, as well as recent additions Peter Scanavino and Raul Esparza, joined the  press corps gathered at the round table discussion that included executive producers/writers Warren Leight and Julie Martin-all taking place on the newly-minted SVU set.

Here, Hargitay tells reporters why she enjoys working with the current writers and executive producers.

“The other thing about it that’s great is they’ve turned the show into more of a serial show. Now, it’s sequential. That is so much better,” said Hargitay. “But it’s really fun to act knowing really where you came from. Not the moment before, but the year before. It’s such a fun thing to actually build this unique foundation because, before these guys arrived, each show stood on its own. It’d be like ‘Oh great, I speak Farsi this week. Great! I had no idea!’ Then, I would never speak Farsi again. Now these things are building blocks. Things mean so much more. I mean, obviously, we’ve been doing this for so long and relationships are so deeply earned. The fact that you have deep relationships with each person is a gift.”

I can admit being excited to be around the cast of a 17-years success story, but it was equally exhilarating being around the creative minds that have helped “SVU” reinvent itself over the last seven years.

Check out this exclusive video we have of Ice-T and a very pregnant Kelli Giddish clowning around and keeping it real on the set of Law & Order SVU.

Check out “Law & Order: SVU” tonight and every Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.
