Janet Jackson Reschedules Vegas Shows Supposedly to Rest Voice

Janet-Jackson*Anyone planning to spend a portion of their weekend with Janet Jackson in Las Vegas will have to take a rain check.

According to Billboard, Live Nation Entertainment let the cat out of the bag Thursday (Oct. 1) while stating that Jackson is canceling the Friday (Oct. 9) and Saturday (Oct. 10) shows at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino to rest her vocal chords.

Refunds will be available to those who bought tickets to the performances, which have been moved to a new 20,000-seat arena and are scheduled to take place in May. The Las Vegas shows are part of Jackson’s “Unbreakbable” tour.

Ticket-holders for the cancelled dates will be the first to get their hands on tickets for the new shows. News of the scrapped performances comes amid Jackson closing out last week with the release of her latest album,” Unbreakable.”

For Caesars Entertainment Corp., Jackson’s cancelling comes as a loss, Billboard reports, adding that the company owns the venue at Planet Hollywood.

As for the new arena that Jackson will perform at, plans are  in motion for MGM Resorts International and concert presenter AEG to open the arena behind MGM’s New York-New York and Monte Carlo resorts in April.
