Warren Sapp Pleads Guilty to Domestic Violence, Avoids Jail

Warren Sapp

*Hall of Famer Warren Sapp accepted a plea deal Thursday that spares him jail time in a Las Vegas domestic violence case involving a fight with his former girlfriend in which he allegedly bit her finger and stomped on her head, TMZ reports.

Sapp was initially arrested on 3 counts of domestic violence but he struck a deal in which prosecutors agreed to drop two of the charges in exchange for a guilty plea. A judge fined him $345 and ordered him to pay $2,555 in restitution. Warren was also ordered to complete 6 months of domestic violence counseling and perform 48 hours of community service. He must stay out of trouble for at least 6 months and he’s banned from contacting his ex.

According to the police report, Sapp attacked Chalyce Moore at the M Resort in Vegas on April 28. Their fight started in their private cabana by the pool when he allegedly threw a margarita at her. The drama escalated on the ride home when he bit her middle finger during an argument. Once home, Moore told police Sapp began to pack his things, but the fight continued until she “ended up on the floor but did not know how,” and Warren, wearing white Jordan sandals, was standing on the right side of her face.

Sapp’s previous legal woes cost him his job as an on-air analyst for the NFL Network after a Feb. 2 arrest in Phoenix for assaulting and soliciting a prostitute during Super Bowl weekend. He pleaded guilty to both charges, and the solicitation charge was dropped after he completed a diversion program, EPSN reports. In 2010, Warren was arrested in connection with another domestic violence battery in South Florida.

Sapp played in the NFL from 1995 to 2007 and filed for bankruptcy in 2012. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
